I found out today that I am now able to go to Michigan to get training to get a leader dog. However, ADA has denied me on keeping my Leader Dog at work while I am working. I filed an appeal about it and hope, and pray that they will approve and allow me to keep it with me at work.
Christine
P.s. Training starts April 6th and ends May 1st 2008.

Who told you that information that the ADA wasn't going to allow you reasonable accommodations which includes having a guide / service animal at work with you ? Did you check this site out which may have the correct answers. http://www.eeoc.gov/ Where did you get this info or where did they get that info? Because under the EEOC / ADA they cannot refuse you to have your guide with you at work. Many people working in today's society has their service animal with them.

My manager got a notice from ADA saying that. She then gave me a form to file an appeal to have ADA reconsider me having the leader dog at work. My manager told me that she would fax the info that I wrote to ADA.
That's all I know about it.

First ask your manager for the copy of what your manager sent to the ADA office as in reality the ADA wouldn't have automatically contacted your manager without being prompt by your manager. Second of off I would contact that URL site above, as there is forms there to fill out and complain about this issue as to what your manager is saying. I would not repeat would not trust your manager to so called send an appeal.

Personally I would love to know what your manager put into such fax , letter or whatnot to them as they Inquired about this and I believe they are trying to do the hide behind the big ball was they discriminate. This is the oldest trick in the book to do!

Yes I would seriously! Because I just find it hard and funny to believe this. Because all that was and should have been done was for you asking for that time so your trained with a matched leader. That right there told them that you are indeed in need of a medical aid which again they must under the ADA (employment) give you reasonable accommodations that means your service animal. Henceforth that should have been it. No calling or faxing the ADA (so called) as I just do not believe that. People in USA work and has their service animal with them. They stay right in their office or beside them or whatever for the safety of the animal that is and that only means if a person is in an unsafe area for an animal. That's it. Hope they give you the true fax that is if they even sent one. Which I doubt it! But definitely complain about your manager playing these games.

OK, I will ask for the copy and keep it in my records. I will do the other things you said in your recent message.
